Who is The Inviting Pear?
Shannon Ferguson is the owner and graphic designer of The Inviting Pear, a full-service Austin, Texas stationery studio. Arielle Vicaria is our senior graphic designer and watercolor artist for the last eight years. Kat Murph is our graphic designer who has 21 years of design and printing experience.
Founded in 2005, we believe every design should be as unique and special as the client. We strive to listen to our clients and understand their personality so that we can translate it into the perfect design piece. We love every aspect of the process—from the initial consultation to the design to the printing production. Not only is your design from scratch but you can feel good about how we realize your creation because we print locally. We think it’s important to support other small businesses in Austin.
How does the custom design process work?
Your custom design package begins with an initial complimentary consultation in person, over email or the phone. This consultation gives us a chance to get to know who you are, learn about your design ideas, and make design recommendations based on your feedback, budget and personal preferences. You will then receive a custom quote based on your preferences. Once you are ready to begin, we'll require a 50% nonrefundable deposit.
How long does the process take?
We recommend getting started at least two months prior to when you need to mail your job. However, each job is different so please contact us to find out our work load. In most cases, we can accommodate rush orders.
What printing styles are available?
Digital/Offset—Professional laser and ink-jet printing, optimal for small jobs. Letterpress—Your type will be indented into the paper. Thicker, softer papers will carry a deeper impression than hard or thin papers. Foil stamping, embossing/debossing, etching and screenprinting are also available.
How much does it cost to design a custom piece?
Because we offer completely custom design services, tailoring each order to the client's preferences, we don't have a set price list. However, most invitation suites (digitally-printed invitation, response card, info card and envelopes) at a quantity of 100 start at $10/set and go up from there. However, prices may vary depending on the options chosen. We know that when you are trying to plan a big event, it's important for you to be aware of all your costs up front so that you can properly budget. That's why, shortly following your initial design consultation, you will receive a quote.
What color options are available?
Color options are endless! In most cases, we work off the pantone system. Click here to see some of the choices.
Do you provide addressing services for envelopes?
Yes! If you are a client of ours, we offer computer printed calligraphy at an additional cost. We have over 900 fonts to choose from so your envelope addressing looks perfect and matches your invitations. You can find our template here. We can also refer you to our favorite calligraphers if you'd like to go that route.
